Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare for partnership with the organisation
  • Determine RTO readiness for engagement with the partner organisation, in line with the RTO’s strategic plan
  • Identify skills needed by RTO staff to work effectively with the organisation, as determined by the requirements of the organisation
  • Conduct an RTO skills analysis to determine if the RTO staff have the required skills, or need further development prior to engaging with the organisation
       
Element: Negotiate the partnership
  • Identify and set objectives for the partnership, in line with the strategic direction and plan of both the RTO and the partner organisation
  • Determine and act on the likely strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the partnership arrangement
  • Negotiate agreement with the organisation about the services and responsibilities of the RTO and the organisation
  • Analyse resources needed for the partnership arrangement, and determine what resources each party will contribute to the partnership
  • Facilitate the drawing up and signing of a contract, or agreement, by appropriate personnel in both organisations
       
Element: Implement the partnership
  • Design organisational processes in consultation with the relevant RTO and the partner organisation’s personnel
  • Establish reporting and recordkeeping processes in accordance with the RTO and the organisation’s requirements
  • Set the parameters for quality assurance of the service offered to the organisation
  • Develop a learning and development strategy in consultation with the relevant RTO and the organisation’s personnel
  • Contextualise the learning and development service as required by the organisation
  • Provide the learning and development service required by the organisation
       
Element: Maintain the partnership
  • Use appropriate communication and interpersonal techniques to develop and maintain a professional relationship with the partner organisation
  • Provide support for own staff when providing the service to the organisation
  • Encourage the organisation to provide support for their own staff when undergoing training, development and assessment
       
Element: Evaluate and review the partnership
  • Evaluate the participants’ reaction to the learning and development service
  • Evaluate the development in terms of the application of new skills, knowledge and attitude to the workplace
  • Analyse the changes the learning and development service has made to the partner organisation
  • Set up review criteria, and review the partnership arrangement, in consultation with the organisation
  • Use evaluation and review processes to make suggestions for improving existing and future partnership arrangements, and report to relevant personnel

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
